A stand-up comedian from Solihull has completed the Solihull Half Marathon in a microphone costume, hoping to secure a second world record.

Dan Hudson finished the 13.1-mile race in one hour and 48 minutes on Sunday. He already holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon by a man while dressed as a microphone.

Record Attempt Documentation

Hudson's attempt at the half marathon record has been documented for verification by Guinness World Records. A friend ran alongside him during the race, and photographs were taken at each mile to provide evidence of the attempt.

The Costume

The microphone costume was made by a fellow comedian. Hudson said the distinctive design was intentional. "Sometimes someone will be running next to you for like 20 seconds trying to get my attention and I'd be like, 'oh, hi, sorry. What do you want?'" he explained.

Race Conditions

Hudson completed the race faster than expected despite high temperatures and the cumbersome costume. He had aimed to finish in under two hours.

"I actually had the world record for the fastest marathon dressed as a microphone, and I had to take that off someone as well," Hudson joked. "I saw the Solihull Half Marathon in the calendar and I just thought, 'oh, let's do that, that would be a great one to try and get the world record'."

After the race, Hudson acknowledged the physical toll. "[My legs] are always a bit sore after a race like that, but I'm kind of used to it, so I can't complain," he said.

The result is pending verification by Guinness World Records.
