Two free events will give Solihull residents the chance to speak to local experts about planning for later life.

The drop-in sessions will take place in Chelmsley Wood on Friday 9 October and at The Core Library in Solihull town centre on Monday 12 October 2026.

They are open to everyone, with advice covering care choices, housing, finances, health, support for carers and ways to remain independent at home.

When and where to attend

  • Friday 9 October, noon to 5pm: The Loft in Bluebell, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5TN. The venue is on the second floor above ASDA.
  • Monday 12 October, 12.30pm to 3.30pm: The Core Library, Solihull town centre, B91 3RG.

Solihull Council has confirmed that neither event requires advance booking. Residents can turn up during the session and speak to the stallholders.

Advice and support available

The events will bring together organisations working on care, wellbeing, housing and practical support. Residents will be able to ask about aids and adaptations, technology-enabled care and help for people caring for someone else.

Topics also include community activities, health advice and financial planning. The aim is to help people understand their options and make decisions about later life before support becomes urgent.

The council's newsletter also invites residents to help shape future later-life events. People can share experiences and ideas through a co-production group reviewing what has worked and what could be improved.

Full event information, the organisations attending each venue and details of how to get involved are available on Solihull Council's later-life events page.
