A new community project for men aged 50 and over is due to begin in Chelmsley Wood on Friday 16 October.

Make and Mend will bring people together through woodworking, practical making, repair and restoration, according to Solihull Council's community development newsletter.

The project welcomes experienced participants and beginners. Its pilot group will help test and develop the initiative.

When and where

Friday sessions are offered from 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 4pm at Unit 21, Chelmsley Wood Industrial Estate, Waterloo Avenue, B37 6QQ.

The newsletter says the longer-term aim is to develop a sustainable community social enterprise, making useful products while giving people opportunities to learn and connect.

How to get involved

Anyone interested should book their preferred session by calling 0121 770 7555 or emailing enquiries@colebridge.org and asking for David or Nadia.

The announcement does not specify a participation charge, so readers should check any costs and practical requirements when booking.
