Solihull Council says a six-week consultation on its new draft Local Plan is expected to open during the week beginning Monday 26 October.
The announcement does not confirm an exact opening or closing date. Residents, businesses and other interested groups should check the council’s Emerging Local Plan page for the final timetable and consultation documents.
What is the next stage?
The proposed consultation concerns the Draft Submission Plan, also known as the Regulation 19 Plan. The council says it follows recommendations from Cabinet and Full Council to publish the draft before submitting it for independent examination.
Representations at this stage concern whether the plan is legally compliant and sound. The draft is not an adopted plan and publication of the consultation does not itself grant planning permission for individual developments.
What happens after consultation?
The council says responses will be submitted alongside the plan for an examination overseen by an inspector appointed on behalf of the Secretary of State.
The examination will assess the draft before the council can consider adoption. Further consultation may be needed if modifications are proposed.
Where to find the details
The Emerging Local Plan page is expected to provide the draft, supporting documents, response arrangements and information about drop-in events when the consultation opens.
The council’s announcement is a preview of the forthcoming consultation rather than confirmation that responses are already open.
